It's not easy asking someone to help you choose colors. I realize the vulnerability one feels. That's why I like to make the experience as simple and fun as possible.

Homework

It is true a picture is worth 1,000 words. That's why I ask clients to show me a "look" or "feeling" they are trying to achieve with books or magazine photos. I also ask about "special" things they would like to feature, oriental carpet, painting, antiques, etc. With that information I can begin to create the space that they imagine.

In 8th grade I was asked, as a candidate for the class president, what I truly hated. My response was "orange and pink together". I have always been drawn to color.

After graduating from college I worked at McLean Mental hospital and learned how powerful color can be to damaged psyches. I taught ceramics at Northfield-Mt. Herman prep school where learned about the chemistry of color pigments when subjected to high temperatures. I taught art at public and private schools for about 20 years but I was always intrigued with color and how it works.

Fees

Color Consultation for Residential Projects

I charge $200 per hour which includes consultation, color schedule and often drawings of the space for the client or the contractor. I also suggest ways to rearrange spaces using the client’s furniture and decor. 

Healthcare and Commercial Work

These fees are negotiated with the scope of work on individual jobs.
